What do the attribution figures mean?
Landing visits, attributed orders and revenue, what SignalLane did for you, and a day-by-day table, for any date range. Days run midnight to midnight UTC, and Export CSV downloads the range.
The Attribution page, and the Results figures on Home, show which of your orders followed a visit SignalLane tracked in your online store, and where that visit came from. Use them to compare where orders came from, not to total your sales: Shopify Analytics shows all of your sales. Home shows the main figures, including Attributed revenue, Assisted orders (the orders described under What SignalLane did for you) and AI-assistant visits.
The three main figures
- Landing visits: page views that arrived with a campaign tag or ad click ID, a SignalLane link, or an AI assistant as the referring site. The line below says how many came through a SignalLane redirect.
- Attributed orders: shown as "X of Y", the orders that followed a landing visit by the same shopper up to 30 days earlier. They split into kept a campaign, sent by SignalLane with no campaign, and from an AI assistant with no campaign.
- Attributed revenue: from your Shopify orders: each order's current total, after returns and refunded items, without cancelled and test orders, in your store's currency. Orders from point of sale, draft orders and other sales channels are counted only when SignalLane saw their checkout on your online store. A refund of an amount only, with no item returned, is not subtracted.
The other orders followed no visit SignalLane tracked: a direct or organic visit, or one older than the window. That does not mean anything was lost.
What SignalLane did for you
This section counts orders whose shopper followed SignalLane's help up to 30 days before buying, by reason: Arrived through a SignalLane redirect, Followed a fixed broken link, Followed a permanent redirect, Cart carried to checkout and Cart carried to another store. It shows SignalLane helped along the way, not that it caused the sale. Each order is counted once, and it still counts for the campaign that brought the shopper.
The rest of the page
- By day: the same figures, one row per day.
- Latest activity: the five newest landing visits, orders and visits to broken pages, each with what brought it. View all activity opens the Activity page.
- AI assistants: visits and orders from AI assistants. How they are counted.
- Visits to broken pages: how many visits reached a page that was not found in the chosen dates; the pages themselves are listed on URL redirects.
- What SignalLane can't see: the orders outside its view.
Choosing dates
The date picker offers Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days (the default), Last 90 days, Last 365 days, Last month, Last 12 months and Last year, or any range you pick. The range is kept in the page address, so a bookmark or a shared link opens the same dates.
Trend badges
On Home and on the Attribution page, each figure is compared with the same number of days just before your range, and a badge shows the change, such as up 12%. Orders, revenue and average order value get a badge only when both ranges are confirmed with your Shopify orders, and revenue only in a single currency. When there is nothing fair to compare with (the earlier days start before you installed SignalLane, reach past the 400 days it keeps, or hold no data), there is no badge and a line under the figures says why.
Export CSV
Export CSV downloads the chosen range with one row per day; a quiet day is a row of zeros, never a missing row. The first column is day_utc, then the day's counts (landing visits, orders, attributed and assisted orders, assists, broken-link visits), then the money columns for each currency. The file opens directly in Excel.
Questions and answers
- Why are these numbers lower than Shopify's?
- SignalLane counts an order only when it saw the order's checkout on your online store, so point-of-sale orders, draft orders, other sales channels and subscription renewals usually are not counted. When a shopper declined tracking, their order counts as unattributed.
- Why is a landing visit not a session?
- A landing visit is a page view. A reload, or the same link opened in a second tab, counts again, so it will not match Shopify's session count.

- AttributionWhy did an order show as 'direct' after a redirect, and how does SignalLane fix it?
A hop to another domain or store can drop the campaign tags and the visit that started the order. SignalLane carries the tags, marks its own redirects, and credits the order on its Attribution page.
- AttributionWhat does the Activity page show?
Every landing visit, order and visit to a broken page from the last 7 or 30 days, newest first, each labelled with what brought it: an ad, an AI assistant, a campaign or SignalLane.
- AttributionHow does SignalLane count visitors sent by AI assistants?
SignalLane names the assistant from the site that sent the visitor and the link's campaign tag: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Copilot or You.com. Shopify may classify differently.
- AttributionHow long are visit records kept, and why might a day be missing?
Visit records are kept 30 days and daily totals 400 days. A banner names any day SignalLane could not record every report, and a day can also be low for reasons it cannot see.
