How long are visit records kept, and why might a day be missing?
Visit records are kept 30 days and daily totals 400 days. A banner names any day SignalLane could not record every report, and a day can also be low for reasons it cannot see.
SignalLane keeps two kinds of attribution data. Visit records (each landing visit and each order SignalLane saw) are kept for 30 days. Daily totals (the figures on the Attribution page) are kept for 400 days. The records are what an order is joined to; the totals are what you read.
What the 30 days mean for attribution
An order is credited to a landing visit by the same shopper up to 30 days before it. A visit record that has been deleted cannot be joined, so the window is never longer than the records are kept. An order whose landing visit was older shows as following no tracked visit.
Days with a "not recorded" banner
When reports arrive faster than SignalLane accepts them, during a sale or a campaign peak for example, some are not recorded. The Attribution page and Home then show a warning headed Some visit reports were not recorded (or Some visit reports or orders were not recorded) that names the days, in UTC: "On … (UTC), SignalLane did not record some visit reports because they arrived faster than it accepts them."
Why a day can be low with no banner
- Shoppers declined tracking, or their browser blocks it.
- The shopper's browser closed or lost its connection before the report was sent.
- Traffic was blocked before it reached SignalLane, for example as suspected automated traffic.
- The app embed or the pixel was off. The setup guide on Home says whether both are on.
- It was simply a quiet day. A day with nothing tracked is a row of zeros, never a missing row.
Other records
The Broken links record keeps up to 50,000 pages, dropping a page nobody has reached for 400 days. For the full list of what SignalLane stores and for how long, see what SignalLane stores.
Days are UTC days
Daily totals are counted midnight to midnight UTC, so a day on the Attribution page may start in the evening or the morning of your own clock. The page says where. Choosing dates.
Questions and answers
- Can I see attribution from more than a year ago?
- Daily totals are kept for 400 days, so the widest range the date picker allows ends today and starts 400 days back.
- Does the banner mean I lost orders?
- No. Your orders are not affected, only SignalLane's record of them. The banner says so when orders are involved.

SignalLane names the assistant from the site that sent the visitor and the link's campaign tag: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Copilot or You.com. Shopify may classify differently.
