Which market of my linked store does a visitor land on?
When the linked store sells to the visitor's country through one of its markets, SignalLane sends them to that market, in their language when it offers it. Otherwise they go to its main address.
A linked store often sells to several countries through its own markets, each with its own address, such as partnerstore.co.uk/fr. When a rule sends a visitor to a linked store, SignalLane sends them to the market that serves their country.
How the market is chosen
- SignalLane reads the linked store's markets each time your rules are published.
- A visitor goes to the market that sells to their country, in their browser's language when that market offers it, else in the market's own language.
- When SignalLane knows the linked store does not sell to the visitor's country, the rule is skipped and your next matching rule acts.
- When it cannot tell, the visitor goes to the linked store's main address, as before. Not knowing is never treated as "does not sell there".
Your campaign tags travel with the visitor either way, and the store-picker layouts follow the same market choice.
Check it on the Stores page
The Market routing column on the Stores page says, for each linked store, how many of its markets visitors are routed to, or why they are not: SignalLane could not read the store's markets, the store has more markets than SignalLane can carry, or your rules had no room for them. In the rule editor, a warning names any country you chose that the linked store does not sell to.
Where it shows
Instant redirects, banners, the product offer and the store-picker layouts all use the market choice. What a linked store enables.
Questions and answers
- Why does the visitor land on the linked store's main address?
- SignalLane could not read that store's markets, or could not fit them into your rules. The Stores page's Market routing column says which.
- Does the cart suggestion use the market too?
- Not yet. The cart suggestion and the checkout message still link to the linked store's main address.
