How does SignalLane know the other store sells the same product?

It finds the same product on the other store among products that are active and published there, using its own copy of both catalogues.

SignalLane keeps its own copy of the products of your store and of every store you have linked. On a product page it looks for the same product on the other store, among products that are active and published there.

Help a product match

If a product is not matched, give it the same web address (handle) or the same SKU on both stores, and make sure it is active and published.

When the other store has no match, the rule still runs and its If the page does not exist on the destination setting decides what happens.

Which products can be matched

A product on the other store must be active and published to its Online Store. A draft, an archived product, or an active product that is not published to the Online Store has no page to send a visitor to, so SignalLane never offers it. SignalLane also never tells a visitor why a product is not offered, so nobody can find out about a product the other store has not launched.

A product the other store has sold out is still a match, but SignalLane will not offer it until it is back in stock.

Check your matches

Open the Catalogue page from the Actions menu of Stores. Each linked store has a row; View matches lists your products that can be offered, 50 at a time, each marked Same handle, Shared SKU or Not sold there, with the product on the other store. You can filter it to the products the other store sells too, or only the ones it does not.

On that page, Ask AI to find matches suggests pairs for products the other store sells under a different handle and SKU, for you to approve or reject, using 1 AI credit per answer, once both stores allow AI matching. The switch Use AI for redirect suggestions, on the URL redirects page's Settings tab, turns it off. About AI credits.

"Not synced yet"

A linked store shows Not synced yet until it has finished reading its own products in its own SignalLane. Until then SignalLane makes no claim about what that store sells, rather than assuming it sells nothing, and product offers on rules pointing at it stay quiet.

How current the copy is

SignalLane reads each store's whole catalogue once when it is installed, and keeps its copy up to date as products, stock and collections change. It also checks for changes on its own through the day. A change Shopify never told SignalLane about may only be caught when you press Sync now on the Catalogue page.

If something on the Catalogue page looks out of date, choose Sync now in its Actions menu. A very large catalogue can take a while; the page refreshes itself until the read finishes.

Questions and answers

My products have different handles on each store. Will they match?
Yes. A product with the same SKU on both stores can be matched even when its web address differs.
Will SignalLane offer a product the other store has as a draft?
No. Only products that are active and published to the other store's Online Store are matched; a draft or archived product is never offered or revealed.
