How are data requests and deletions handled?
Shopify passes your customers' data and deletion requests to SignalLane automatically. Deletions happen as they arrive; a data request is recorded and sent to you when you ask.
Shopify sends every app three kinds of privacy request. SignalLane handles each one as it arrives, so you do not need to do anything in SignalLane when a customer exercises their rights through your store.
A customer asks for their data
When a customer asks you for their data, Shopify tells SignalLane which of their orders are involved. SignalLane records the request with a copy of what it holds for those orders: the order records, and the visits from the browser that placed them. To receive it, email support@signallane.app and we send it to you within 30 days, so you can answer your customer.
The request, with the customer's Shopify customer id and email, is kept for 90 days, then deleted.
A customer asks to be deleted
When Shopify asks SignalLane to delete a customer, SignalLane deletes:
- The records of the orders Shopify names.
- Every visit from the browser that placed those orders, with its campaign tags.
- Any record of that customer's earlier data requests.
On a shared browser this can delete another person's visits too. SignalLane accepts that, because the opposite mistake would keep a deleted customer's data. Daily totals are sums with no customer in them, so they do not change.
Your store is deleted
When you uninstall
As soon as SignalLane has confirmed the uninstall with Shopify, it disconnects your store: it can no longer act in your admin, linked stores are unlinked and pending invitations are cancelled.
About 48 hours later
Shopify then asks SignalLane to delete your store's data, and it deletes everything it holds for your store: rules, visit records, daily totals, the Broken links record, your catalogue copy and every invitation. It keeps only a note that the store was erased.

- What happens to my data when I uninstall?
- SignalLane disconnects your store once it has confirmed the uninstall with Shopify, and deletes everything it holds for it when Shopify asks, about 48 hours later.

- Privacy and dataWhat data does SignalLane store about my shoppers?
A random browser id from Shopify, the landing page and campaign tags, and each order's id, total and currency. No shopper names, phone numbers, addresses or IP addresses.
- Privacy and dataWhich cookies does SignalLane set, and how does consent work?
One cookie, only when a rule remembers a shopper's answer and they allowed preferences. Everything else lasts one visit. Shopify runs the pixel only when the shopper's choices allow analytics.
- AttributionHow long are visit records kept, and why might a day be missing?
Visit records are kept 30 days and daily totals 400 days. A banner names any day SignalLane could not record every report, and a day can also be low for reasons it cannot see.
- URL redirects and broken linksHow do redirect suggestions work?
SignalLane suggests Shopify redirects for broken pages and you choose which to create. It never creates one on its own, never touches yours, and its redirects stay if you uninstall.
