How do I write product and collection descriptions?

Open AI readiness and the Descriptions tile, or Product descriptions in the Actions menu of SEO titles & descriptions. The page has two tabs, Products and Collections, each with its count. By default it lists live products with no description or a short one (under 150 characters of text) and collections with no description.

Write with Sidekick

This card is free and writes in Shopify's own product editor:

1. Open the product or collection in Shopify (Edit in Shopify on its row).
2. Ask Sidekick to write its description.
3. Check it and save it in Shopify.

Then press Check again on the AI readiness lists, or wait for SignalLane's next read, and the item leaves the list.

Write with AI

Tick the items and press Write descriptions with AI. SignalLane counts them and asks before using credits: 1 credit for each description it can use. An item that already has a description of 150 characters or more is not sent and uses nothing, and a description SignalLane cannot use is free.

Each suggestion is tagged AI suggestion · not saved. Press Edit to change it (Keep my text), Discard to drop it, or Write again. Every suggestion is checked before you see it, and one SignalLane cannot use is not shown and uses no credit.

Save and Undo

Tick the suggestions and press Save selected. Saving needs product editing permission, which you allow on the SEO titles & descriptions page. Just before writing, SignalLane re-reads the item and leaves it alone if it now has a description. It keeps the previous description for 30 days, so Undo puts it back as long as the description is still the one SignalLane wrote.
