AI shopping readiness

How do I work through the products and pages AI readiness lists?

A View tile opens the list of exactly those products or pages. Every row shows what to fix, with Edit in Shopify, Check again and This product is fine; problems SignalLane can fix link straight to the page that fixes them.

The products list and the pages and blog posts list each have their own page, with a back arrow to AI readiness. A tile marked View opens its list with that problem already chosen, and View all products missing something opens every product that is not ready.

What each row shows

Both lists have the same columns:

  • Title, and Kind (product, page or blog post).
  • What to fix, one problem per line. A problem SignalLane can fix, such as a missing SEO title, meta description or description, is a link to the page that fixes it, searched for this item. The rest are plain text, to fix in Shopify.
  • Actions: Edit in Shopify opens the item in your Shopify admin, Check again reads it again, and This product is fine (or This page is fine, This post is fine) marks it as fine.

Find what to fix first

  • Filter by what is missing, and for products by how many of the fields are missing.
  • Sort products by most missing first (the default), or by handle either way.
  • Search by title or handle, then press Enter. A search needs at least 3 letters or numbers in a row, or 2 characters side by side in Chinese, Japanese or Korean; anything shorter shows no rows and says so.

Each list shows 50 rows a page.

Check again

After you fix something in Shopify, press Check again on its row. SignalLane reads that one item from Shopify straight away and updates the row, so you do not wait for the next scheduled read. Tick several rows and press Check again in the bar to check them together. If you check many items quickly, SignalLane asks you to wait a moment. While a larger read is running, the section shows how far it has got.

Mark as fine

Some products and pages are right as they are, such as a contact page that is meant to be short. Mark one as fine to take it out of the problem counts and the default list. The Marked as fine filter lists them, and Undo puts one back. Tick several rows and press Mark as fine (or Undo) in the bar to do them together. A marked item comes back on its own if it changes in Shopify, so a later edit is never hidden. A marked product is also left off the SEO titles & descriptions and Descriptions lists.

Pages built on a theme template

A page whose content field is empty but that uses a theme template of its own (such as "contact") may get its text from that template. SignalLane cannot see your theme, so it does not count such a page as having no text. The count line says how many there are, and each row names the template.

Questions and answers

I fixed a product in Shopify. Why does the list still show it?
Press Check again on its row. SignalLane reads that product from Shopify straight away and updates the row.
Can I hide a product or page I am happy with?
Yes. Press This product is fine (or This page is fine, This post is fine). It comes back on its own if it changes in Shopify.
Why does the search say to type more?
A search needs at least 3 letters or numbers in a row (2 characters side by side in Chinese, Japanese or Korean), so it can be answered quickly on a large store.
